About Us

Bangladesh Cardiac Society

Bangladesh Cardiac Society is the national organization of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons of Bangladesh. It was established on 5 January 1984 under the leadership of Professor Brig. (Rtd.) Abdul Malik with the vision of improving cardiac care facilities throughout the country. The Society is committed to promoting the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, developing skilled healthcare professionals, and maintaining high standards in cardiovascular healthcare services across Bangladesh.

All qualified cardiologists and cardiac surgeons are eligible to become members of the Society, and currently it has more than 600 members. To strengthen professional knowledge and skills, Bangladesh Cardiac Society has been regularly publishing the Bangladesh Heart Journal since 1986. The Society also organizes seminars, symposiums, and national as well as international conferences every year to encourage academic excellence and professional collaboration.

To increase public awareness about the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, the Society publishes educational booklets and leaflets and observes World Heart Day and World Hypertension Day annually. Bangladesh Cardiac Society has published a Guideline for the Management of Acute Coronary Syndrome and is currently working on developing a national cardiovascular disease registry. The Society is an active member of the World Heart Federation, Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology, World Hypertension League, and SAARC Cardiac Society.

Leadership Message

Message from Convening Committee

Renewed commitment to advancing cardiac care in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Cardiac Society

The Premier Professional Organization

The Bangladesh Cardiac Society (BCS) is the premier professional organization representing cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and vascular surgeons across Bangladesh. Established in 1984 under the visionary leadership of National Professor (Brig.) Abdul Malik, BCS has since served as the central platform for advancing cardiovascular care, promoting academic excellence, and raising public awareness of heart health throughout the nation.

As the apex body for cardiac care in Bangladesh, the Society is dedicated to fostering continuous professional development, encouraging scientific collaboration, and supporting innovation in cardiovascular medicine. BCS is proud to be an active member of globally renowned cardiovascular organizations, including the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology (APSC), and others.

Following the student-led democratic resurgence in July 2024, a new convening committee was formed to usher in a renewed era of leadership and progress. As part of this renewed commitment, BCS will host a National Scientific Conference and Felicitation Ceremony on 25 June 2025, aimed at disseminating advanced cardiovascular knowledge, inspiring young professionals, and enhancing public engagement in heart health.
